Family policies
What families ask before a first day, in plain words.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
What to wear and bring
Closed-toe shoes, a hat and clothes that can take clay, ink and dye. Chimayo's sun is strong, so sunscreen goes on at home. We supply the materials, and aprons hang by the door.
Drop-off and pickup
An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the door every day, and shows photo ID until we know them. If someone new is coming, tell us in writing before that day.
Late pickup
Camp ends at 3:00 p.m. If you need more time, book late pickup ahead by the week. A counselor stays with every camper who is still here, and the registration page says what late pickup is.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your camper home with a fever, and until they feel well again. If a camper feels ill at camp, we call you, and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Campers bring a lunch and a snack from home, and we keep water bottles filled. Tell us about allergies at registration; we ask what we need privately and plan tables and materials around it.
Closures for weather and holidays
Camp is closed for the Independence Day holiday. When a storm or a road closure changes the day, we text families before camp starts.
Screens and phones
Phones, watches and games stay at home. You can always reach your camper through the camp phone.
Questions about a policy?
Call the camp and we will talk it through before you register.
